Our troubleshooting facility of all type of molds and dies helps our costomer to improve / extend the mold life. We also offer the mold maintenance services on the contract, task or visit bases. Generally this facility is utilized after long run of production of worn out die.

Need of Mould maintenance

The regular maintenance of machines, moulds and other equipment and timely repair of occurring damage reduce downtime and terminate ensuring losses. This generates a better utilization of the mould, which contains all work done with the mould. Especially all modifications and corresponding drawing numbers should be entered. The goal of preventing maintenance should be increase in productivity. This is achieved by :

* Reduction of downtime

* Decrease in rejects

* Compliance with terms of delivery

The last inspection together with maintenance should always take place before the mould is taken out of the machine. At the same time the last moulding can be evaluated. This can provide important information about the status of the mould. The moulding indicates damage to the cavity surface, displacement of the ejector pins, efficiency of cooling lines, sealing at the parting lines, etc.

The information gained from evaluating the moulding facilitates an assessment of the condition of the mould and shows maintenance which work has to be done immediately. If there are no defects, the usual maintenance work is carried out and such components are repaired or replaced which need to on the basis of the statically evaluation of failure indicating the potential of such occurrence.

Maintenance of Cooling Lines


There is always the danger that deposit of scale, rust, sludge, or algae in the cooling lines reduces their cross-section with time. This impairs the heat exchange between coolant and mould considerably.

Since the deposit decrease the diameter of the channels, measuring the flow rate is a way of checking the system. A pressure control valve is installed between the mould and water line and a defined pressure drop is set, which has to be the same for each examination.


Maintenance of Mould Surface
At the end of the production run, remainders of plastic have to be carefully removed. The work depends on the molding material and its amounts. It is suggested to use soap and water for removing material remnants and other deposits. At last the mould has to carefully dried.

Rust spots from condensed water or aggressive plastics have to be removed before storage likewise. Depending on the degree of chemical attack, abrasives for grinding and polishing are suitable.

Maintenance of Heating and Control system


This work is very important for hot runner moulds. After each production run, heater cartridges, heater bands and thermocouples should be checked with and ohmmeter and the results compared with those on the mould card. The control circuits are simply tested with an ammeter installed in to the circuit.


Actions taken after Examination and Cleaning
At the end of the each maintenance work, the mould should be carefully dried and slightly greased with non-corrosive grease. This is especially important for movable parts. For extended storage the mould should be kept in the oil-paper. Then the mould is stored in a dry and heated storage area with low air humidity. All the observations and work is entered in to the master roll of the mould.
